The Hindsight horsebox concept - as featured in the March/April 2005 issue of HQ Magazine - is an original and revolutionary solution to contemporary horsebox design shortcomings.

It has been proven that horses travel better and arrive less stressed when being transported facing to the rear. Many modern horse transporters in Europe, America and elsewhere use this configuration. This is due to the forces acting on a horse during freighting and the direction of airflow within the box.

Now that prototype concept has been transformed into a production horsebox, which loads the horses rearwards - the unique Hindsight Horse box. With styling inspired by the post-war American Airstream caravan and modern construction techniques, the Hindsight Horse box is an appealing piece of kit for the discerning horse owner unmatched by any other horsebox.

This novel horsebox layout results in numerous benefits -

It is an accepted fact that rearward facing horses travel and arrive in a far less stressed state in the event of a frontal or rear accident; the horses are far better protected

The closed rear end ensures dust-free travelling - a great benefit when travelling on gravel roads.

The lack of a huge ramp opening at the rear results in a far stiffer and sturdier box with lower internal noise levels.

The curved and stylish GRP (Glass-fibre Reinforced Plastic) roof hood is more robust and streamlined resulting in improved aerodynamics.

The unique curved "Stand-Easy" floor not only helps horses balance, but channels and drains urine keeping the box less messy.

The layout permits the use of the closed rear of the box as a 'caravan' with a worktop, storage cupboards for hay bales, saddles and tack; and so on.

The smaller front-loading ramp is lighter and more manageable. Gas struts are used to balance the ramp weight so that even smaller people can handle the ramp.

Dust and debris from hay nets are blown away from the eyes and nasal passages of the horses during transit.

The box can be used as a comfortable and practical 'gypsy caravan' once the horses have been unloaded and the horse partitions removed. Optional side pads can be ordered that fold down to form beds. This makes overnight stays at horse events simple and convenient.

The box can be stripped out inside and used as a workable caravan for holidays; fishing trips, hiking adventures and so on.

As the box is fully enclosed, it is less drafty and horses may not need to be rugged for transport in colder weather. During hot weather there is adequate rooftop, front and rear ventilation. The top ramp section can be latched open during stops or in very hot weather.

The front ramp can be seen from the tow vehicle during travel - a great safety feature.

As one horse stands slightly in front of the other (staggered), they are less likely to tread on each other's hooves.
